Studio Rental Rules and Equipment
A professional guide for photographers and creators renting our Edmonton facility. Ensure a smooth workflow by understanding our technical capabilities and studio etiquette.
Book the StudioRenting a professional space in downtown Edmonton requires more than just a time slot. To maintain the quality of our gear and the integrity of our white cyclorama, every client must adhere to specific operational standards. Whether you are a seasoned professional or a freelance creator, our facility is designed to provide a neutral, high-ceiling environment that eliminates the constraints of home or office setups.
Technical Specifications of the Space
Our studio offers 120 m² of versatile space, featuring a 4.5 m ceiling height that allows for overhead lighting rigs and large-scale productions. The centerpiece is our professional white cyclorama (cyc wall), which provides a seamless background for high-key photography and commercial video. Because the cyc wall is a specialized surface, we strictly prohibit the use of adhesives, paints, or any materials that could stain or damage the finish.
The studio is located in the heart of Edmonton, making it easily accessible for models and clients arriving via the LRT Capital Line. We provide a private dressing room to ensure your talent has a secure space for wardrobe changes and makeup application, keeping the main shooting area clutter-free.
Lighting and Grip Equipment
Rhetoricbyte is equipped with industry-standard Profoto lighting. We provide a mix of impulse (strobe) and continuous lighting to accommodate both still photography and video content. All rentals include basic light modifiers, including softboxes and umbrellas. If you require specialized grip gear—such as C-stands, clamps, or specific gels—please notify us at least 48 hours before your session.
While we provide the lighting hardware, clients are responsible for bringing their own camera bodies, lenses, and memory cards. We recommend testing your triggers with our Profoto system upon arrival to ensure seamless synchronization.
| Equipment Category | Included in Basic Rental | Available via Request |
|---|---|---|

Studio Etiquette and Safety
To ensure the safety of all users and the longevity of our equipment, we enforce strict safety protocols. All light stands must be properly weighted with sandbags when used with heavy modifiers. Cables must be taped down or routed away from walking paths to prevent tripping hazards. Smoking, vaping, and the use of open flames are strictly prohibited inside the studio premises.
We ask that you respect the "clean-in, clean-out" policy. All props, clothing, and waste must be removed by the end of your booked hour. Any equipment found damaged due to negligence will be billed to the client based on the repair cost.
Booking and Cancellation Terms
Studio time is booked in hourly increments. To secure your date, a 30% deposit is required. We understand that production schedules can shift; therefore, we allow a free reschedule if requested at least 3 days before the appointment. Cancellations made within the 3-day window may result in the forfeiture of the deposit.
For B2B clients and agencies, we offer flexible invoicing with a payment term of 14 days. Please provide your company details during the booking process to qualify for corporate billing.

Local Considerations for Edmonton Creators
Operating in Alberta means dealing with extreme seasonal shifts. During winter months, we recommend arriving 10 minutes early to allow for temperature adjustment and to ensure your gear is acclimated to the indoor environment, preventing lens fogging. Our proximity to Churchill Station makes the studio a convenient hub for talent coming from across the city, reducing the stress of downtown parking.
If you are planning a portrait session and are unsure about the visual approach, we recommend reading our guide on how to prepare for your portrait to better align your technical needs with the studio's capabilities.
